This is one of the many drawings I made while bored and in school. It was during this time that my creativity peaked and the artist in me was stronger than my inner engineer. In between classes or even during classes I would let my mind wander.
All of the drawings you will see in this post are from 2000 to 2008, through high school and college. With no smart phone at my disposal, I kept myself occupied during boredom through drawing. Also, I was trying to hone my craft in auto design while I was seriously thinking about !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
Back when TVR still existed, I really liked how daring they could be with their designs. I imagined this is what an LMP car from them would look like. However, the design seems to be confused as to where the engine is. Note the McLaren F1 on the back.
This sketch was made right when Nissan was working on a new Z. I imagined something closer to the original Datsun Z’s with 300ZX proportions. Yes, there are vents everywhere. It was 2001 and I was teenager, you do the math.
No original design work here, just bored in Spanish class. It started out as just the rocks on the right, and then I imagined a whole rally scene next to it.
Again, it was the early 2000’s and I was a teenager. The more vents and wings your car had, the cooler you were. At least that is what Need for Speed Underground taught me.
And now we come to something with functional aerodynamics. I had just read how Porsche was channeling the air in their new 911 Turbo to lower drag and increase downforce. Also, flames.
From here though, I had decided to make a career in engineering instead of art. I stopped drawing for a bit but my imagination never stopped resting. I had to appease it and kept drawing in college despite being told I was just an illustrator and not really a designer.
I went back to my roots and did alot of modified Mustangs. This was drawn during a class about theater. I was paying attention until I remembered the class was pass/ fail.
Random mid engine car that is one of many random mid engine car designs I have. There is some very complicated looking math on the back of this drawing.
There is also alot of complicated looking math on the back of this drawing. If Pontiac needed a Fiero in the mid-2000’s, I had them covered.
This is a car made entirely of box flares. On the back is a list of requirements for becoming a nun. I am neither female nor Catholic so I have no idea what I was doing with this piece of paper other than drawing on it.
Like anyone else, I missed the RX-7. The RX-8 was good in its own right but not a true successor. By this point, flip lights had been outlawed so my design really was wishful thinking.
Yes, I spelled John Deere wrong. Sue me. A John Deere pickup would be the bee’s knees in the mid-West and you know it. Note the winch as standard and power outlets on the front and back.
And I leave you with a modern day Charger Daytona on the back of what looks like something about the digestion system. After this I entered the real world where they frown upon drawing during work. As an engineer I do draw for a living but its not the same obviously.
I have thought about getting a job with Hot Wheels though. They have alot of original designs, somebody has to draw them. And I could use my engineering expertise on manufacture design and playsets. Too bad their HQ is in southern California, the land of drought and wildfires. It feels safer here on the east coast but its also much more boring too. In regards to my passion for car design or cars altogether, I have always felt like I am stuck on a deserted island all by myself where I grew up. But it doesn’t stop me from drawing and pretending that in an alternate universe, there exists an RX-9, revived Daytona Charger and a John Deere pickup. Hope you enjoyed this post, and remember that some of your best ideas will come to you when you are bored.

Rx-9=mid engine/20b? Sort of like a road going Furai?
P.s. This is awesome^

Drought and wildfires. Lol
The reasons not to move to So Cal are the living expenses (housing, taxes, gad, insurance, etc) and the traffic.
Love how you signed all your drawings.

Duuuuuddde! This is exactly what I used to do in school. I still draw cars all this time. This is me at work right now lol.
I have a whole bunch of clippings from my school notes and Ive been thinking of a way to turn them into a huge collage since forever.

Do it! It would be cool to see them. I used to draw cars on my papers in that little 1” empty space on the top of college ruled paper. I turned work in with the cars on them. My thermodynamics professor actually wrote “cool car!” on the top of one of my assignments.

Its meant to be front engine, but now that you mention it I should re-visit the design as a mid-engine car.
I’m glad you like the rally scene. When I look at it, all I can think is “the wheels should be hanging down from the car, not tucked up in the wheel wells.” Guess I’ll have to draw it again.

Okay, that was an exaggeration. I know its not all drought and wildfires, its just sometimes drought and wildfires. Living expenses near DC can be harsh too, but I have a feeling SoCal is still more expensive.
Signing the drawings is a habit I started when I first started drawing. When I was 8, my mom told me I should date my drawings so I knew when I drew them. So I was like, might as well put my name on it too.

Haha I did that too :D
Unfortunately, I’m in the process of moving to Singapore so that will have to wait...there’s always something. But I want to get to this.
